It’s all about relationship…
A few nights ago, Betty and I had the pleasure of having dinner with a young couple in the church. They had carefully, and quite intentionally, emailed us their invitation, along with several dates that would work for them, asking us to choose one. Sure enough, one of those evenings was perfect, and we gladly accepted.
It was a terrific night, with a wonderful meal, and stellar conversationalists. In just a couple of hours, we got to know a bit more about each other. Betty and I were most impressed by their love for the Lord, the church, and living out his life in relationship.
Now consider this. This couple is in their early thirties, almost 10 years younger than our kids, yet they took it upon themselves to invite over for the evening a couple older than their parents. Wow!
That’s what a multigenerational church looks like, older and younger together loving the Lord and one another. But it doesn’t just “happen.” It only comes about as all of us, young and old, reach out to one another, inviting “the other generation” in for a get-together, whether it’s over dinner, out for a snack after church, a visit to your favorite coffee shop, or adding some “salt and pepper” to the Superbowl Party.
That little dinner, and those friends, encouraged Betty and me in lots of ways. We need to be doing the same thing in reverse, and Lord willing, we will.
Crossroads Community Church – we’re committed to be a multigenerational church body, living life together, helping and encouraging one another. How about joining us in that quest?
